iPhone 4 hits the stores June 24th
Published: June 08th 2010
The newest incarnation of the iPhone, iPhone 4 is set to hit the shores of the UK on 24th June, the same day the latest Apple world-beater is unleashed to the US markets.
While the current iPhone partners Vodafone, O2 and Orange have all confirmed that they will be carrying the phone, it is still unclear if the aspiring vendors such as T-Mobile, 3, Virgin Media or Tesco Mobile will be able to convince Apple to take them onboard as well. On the other hand, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U have already launched pre-registration websites, and will be reselling the phones on behalf of the three iPhone partners.
Apple and its partners have remained quiet on the pricing of the new iPhone in the UK. In the US, Apple will be selling the 16GB version for $199 (£137) and the 32GB $299 (£207) for the 32GB version, however the specific of the contract terms remains unannounced. This indicates that the 16GB and 32GB contract-less iPhone 4 would probably retail for £449 and £549 respectively.
Ronan Dunne, UK Chief Executive of O2 said that Apple has once again raised the bar with the iPhone 4, and this time around, with three year’s worth of experience behind them, the telecom providers will be well placed to “support the device with the best overall experience”.
In related news, Apple and Cisco has hammered out a deal which allows Apple to use the Cisco’s iOS trademark for the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad operating systems. Apple has also worked out an agreement with a company called FaceTime for the use of its FaceTime trademark.
Check out the O2 website for more details and availability on the up-coming iPhone.
