Save up to £108 with Virgin Media
Published: June 27th 2010
Virgin Media is set to continue its policy of aggressive pricing as it battles it out with other satellite TV providers for increased share of a resurgent market. In new deals announced by Virgin Media, from 1 July, subscribers of Virgin Media M+, L or XL TV contracts will be able to save as much as £108 annually on Sky Sports and Sky Movies packages. Fans of the Premier League can kick off the new season with a bundled Sky Sports Collection (Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4) for just £20.50 per month, earning subscribers a saving of £42 per year. Film buffs can take advantage of the Sky Movies Collections offer (Sky Movies 1 and 2, plus Sky Movies Premiere, Sky Movies Premier +1, Sky Movies Showcase and Disney Cinemagic) for a new price of £19.50 per month, offering an annual saving of up to £84. The combined Sky Sports and Sky Movies Collection will be available in a single deal worth £27.50 per month, delivering savings of up to £72 per year. Subscribers can also add single Sky Sports (Sky Sports 1 or 2) or Sky Movies (Sky Movies 1 or 2) packages for a reduced £13.50 per month, netting savings of up to £9. The pricing arrangement follows a decision by Offcom, the communication regulator, to order Sky to offer Sky Sports 1 and 2 to competing operators for £10.63 per subscriber per month for each channel. The two channel bundle, the preferred package for most providers, was cut down by 10.5% from £19.15 to £17.14.
