Sky Sports HD launched on Virgin Media Digital TV services
Published: July 23rd 2010
The stock of high definition (HD) digital TV services is on the rise amongst sports fans, with an increasing number of sports enthusiasts wanting to watch their football, cricket or rugby in HD.
With this rising popularity in view, for the first time, Virgin Media has announced the addition of Sky Sports HD1 and HD2 to its digital TV package.
The new Sky Sports HD channels will be available to customers from 2 August, for a subscription fee of £7 per month on top of any existing TV package.
This addition takes the total number of channels available on Sky HD to 30. This figure is expected to go up to 50 by this Christmas.
Talking about the move, the broadband, Virgin’s Executive Director of Digital Entertainment, Cindy Rose said that with the increasing popularity of HD content, customers are asking for more and more from their TV services. With its ever-growing range of HD content, Virgin Media is in the best position to be able
serve the whole family’s HD entertainment needs, she claimed.
The addition of Sky Sports HD1 and HD2 comes after another announcement earlier this month, which saw the Telco giant introduce Five's new HD channel, Five HD, to all of its TV subscribers for no additional monthly charges.
