Direct Line 12 months for the price of 10 on pet insurance

Published: 15/04/2009 by Comments

With the average cost of pet fees rising each year, looking after that extra member of the family can be expensive; especially during these uncertain times. Undoubtedly with this in mind, Direct Line are offering new customers a tempting 12 months pet insurance for the price of 10, with the added bonus of direct-to-vet payment.

Customers can take advantage of the offer by getting a pet insurance quote over the phone or online, quoting the reference ‘Pet 12 for 10’.

The Direct Line Pet Insurance policy also includes:

A 15% discount when more than one pet is insured with Direct Line

No restriction on the number of times the policy holder can claim

Up to £1000 pet boarding fees covered should the policy holder be hospitalised

Fixed one-off excess for each condition

Holiday cancellation cover up to £5000 if a vacation is cancelled due to pet loss, unexpected injury or sickness

As a nation of animal lovers, it’s not surprising that there are 27 million pets in the UK, with over 43% of homes housing a furry friend, according to a survey by Dog Magazine. If you decide to opt for a canine companion, the initial course of injections and health checks alone could cost nearly £300.

“Pet owners should remember to safeguard themselves against hefty vet bills by taking out insurance for their pets,” explained Chris Price, head of pet insurance at Direct Line, which is partly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland. “Sadly many dogs and cats have to be put down every year because owners are cutting back on insurance and then cannot afford to cover the costly vet bills associated with an accident or illness.”

The special deal, which is available until the 20th May 2009, is designed to ease the burden of unexpected vet bills while enticing new customers to the company.
