The digital games market is rapidly expanding, in 2016 its global profits stood at £32.8 ($40.60) billion!
The data was published by SuperData Research Unity; they also discovered that Asia continues to have the largest share in the gaming market with $24.8 billion profit in 2016. Europe and North America generated $5.7 billion and $6.9 billion respectively.
The study also found that players located in North America spent more time gaming than they did on sites such as YouTube and Netflix.
Mobile gamers play games for approximately 30 minutes each day. Since 2015, there has been a 12% increase in the amount of time spent gaming.
The United States is the only country where there are less players on IOS then there are on Android. The majority of games are played on Android phones; at present that figure is 78% worldwide.
In 2016, VR technology generated $1.8 billion in profit. Over 6 million devices were sold throughout the year and more than 4 million Gear VR devices were sold with the majority of them being headsets.
