Motorists opting out of breakdown cover

Published: 07/09/2009 by Comments

As purse strings are pulled tighter, many consumers are looking for ways to save cash, especially when it comes to insurance policies. A new report from cover provider Ibuyeco has revealed that many car insurance customers are avoiding extra costs by going without breakdown cover.

A shocking 32% of motorists have declined breakdown cover in the last year, putting themselves at risk of high repair costs should they suffer a breakdown while on the roads.

Lucy Bailey, Marketing Manager at Ibuyeco, advised customers to think twice before opting out of breakdown cover in their car insurance premium.

“While the nation is trying to save on expenses in these tough times, sometimes cutting back on extras such as breakdown cover can be a false economy” she explained.
