The Galaxy S7 boasts an amazing design, cutting edge camera and speedy performance, placing the device streaks ahead of the Android market. There is however a price-tag associated with all of the technology included in the premium model and not everyone can afford it – with prices in excess of £550.
Samsung have decided to make their offering more accessible to consumers with the launch of the new Galaxy A3 and A5 smartphones, which contain a number of the features found in the S7 – all at a lower price.
Features include an entirely metal frame with 3D glass to the back of the device – a signature Samsung design. The device comes in two sizes with display size at 5.2 inches on the A5 and 4.7 inches on the smaller A3 option. Always-on technology allows users the freedom to keep up to date with notifications more easily, preserving battery life.
Similar to the Galaxy S7 the new series can handle exposure to water and dust due to their IP68 rating. Further features include a camera that is rear-facing and has easier functionality for taking selfies, with the capability to touch the camera anywhere to capture the image. Low light photos are made easier by the display functioning as a front flash, another attempt to make smartphone photography simpler for users. There are a range of editing options available to enhance photos to include Food Mode, said to maximise the colour and contrast of shots.
Although there are no specific details on battery life, Samsung are claiming that the models have long-life batteries with faster charging options available via USB (Type C port).
Where the newly launched A5 and A3 do not match the premium Galaxy S7 brand is in processor speed and storage, offering only 32GB on the new devices.
In a discussion about the new brand, President of Mobile Communications for Samsung Electronics, DJ Koh, said: “at Samsung, we are always trying to ensure our customers have the most advanced products on the market, the latest Galaxy A series is a testament to this. We integrated our unique approach to design as well as the features Galaxy customers have come to love to provide added performance without compromising on style.”
The new Samsung A series devices are available to consumers from the beginning of February across the UK, with pre-ordering available from 20 January via the Samsung website and a selection of associated carriers and retailers. An incentive for those wishing to pre-order devices is a set of Samsung LEVEL Active Wireless Headphones.
