For those that wish they could get by without paying their broadband and phone bills, here is an improbable bit of news.

TalkTalk, an ISP that uses UK’s biggest next-gen superfast broadband network, has recently launched a package that includes 12 months of free broadband services and phone calls.

The specifics of the deal is this: an 18-month contract for TalkTalk broadband and landline connection, of which the first 12 months is free, and then a charge of £6.99 for each subsequent month after that period; 24 Mb broadband; a 40 GB monthly download limit; unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines for the first year and 30-day no-strings trial period.

In addition, customers will also be entitled to a ten percent discount on calls made to any of the 16 mobile and international numbers on the connected phone package.

The package also includes a free Magic Desktop, a product that is designed to make the PC more family-friendly. It features a host of educational games, an application that helps the young ones discover the web and protect them from its darker sides.

The finer print of the offer reveals however, that customers will have to foot the phone line rental bill of £11.49 per month for the duration of the contract. Nevertheless, not having to pay the £6.99 per month for broadband access still represents a healthy saving of £84.

The offer is basically TalkTalk’s Essentials offer, repackaged and with a year’s worth of free service added on. The company also offers a Pro package for £14.99 per month that features no download caps, UK mobile phone calls for a 7p/minute flat rate, and free technical and client support.
