A small village in Berkshire is undergoing the first trial of a 50mb Virgin Media broadband package. The company is hoping that the service, will be supplied through telegraph polls, is going to prove invaluable in increasing the Virgin Media Network by 500,000 homes in the future, focusing on rural areas in particular.
The trial, which is described as ‘unique’ by Virgin Media CEO, Neil Berkett, is being hailed as ‘an exciting new way to extend next generation broadband services’, affecting up to 1 million homes in the UK.
As recent surveys discovered that web-users are spending more time on the Internet than ever before, thanks to the advent of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as entertainment features like BBC Iplayer and other catch up services, consumers are requiring faster, reliable broadband speeds.
